Humans are the apex predators, but we also contain the capacity for compassion. This paradoxical conundrum gets further complicated when the compassion side of the equation becomes unbalanced. The atrocities of War would be a prime example including instances of sadistic torture. Controlling our own personal conduct during times of War remains far easier than the collective conduct of a nation. As a player of the ultimate game I must consider my role and my advice as a non-combatant in either of the conflicts currently underway. Both the conflict in the Middle East and the war in Ukraine share similarities for the United States as a whole. The conduct of the wars, on the other hand, are vastly different and shed light on the true nature of war.

I have come to believe that WAR IS OBSOLETE. Think about it, the United States has in excess of 2000 nuclear weapons. Yet they deter no one!! Russia invades Ukraine. Terrorists from Afghanistan fly planes into the World Trade Center and Hamas attacks Israel despite the nuclear weapons that could be used on them. Iran may be the single exception. As much as they would love to destroy Israel they do not. Instead they employ non-state actors to spread chaos. Given the current mess it's time for world leaders to denounce war. Unfortunately the vast majority are playing the "Game of Thrones". Consequently they are more interested in staying in power than doing the right thing.

Take President Biden, for example. His unwaivering support of Israel came as no surprise. After all, the United States has always supported Israel and him especially over the many decades he has served in office. Only now we should cut off that support and transition out of that relationship. That in no means we are supporting Hamas, but we can at least moderate our relationship with the wider Middle East by acknowledging we put too much support into Israel. We turned a blind eye while they illegally stole land in the West Bank and did nothing towards their internment of Gaza.

So we must fess up to our complicity in this mess and cut off all support to Israel's problems in Gaza. We should further state that whatever happens next in Gaza is totally on the backs of Israel. However if Iran, Lebanon, or whoever should decide to attack Israel then we will back them up militarily. Obviously we can't just abandon the alliance all at once, but we SHOULDN'T be complicit if the events in Gaza continue on the same trajectory. So yes, Israel has the right to defend itself, but it doesn't have the right to continue stealing territory or the right obliterate the Palestinian population. The war must end now. So whatever worth that may have in the "Ultimate Game", that's my position. Furthermore, I think we need to quit referring to Israel as "THE HOLY LAND" .... all the world is the Holy. So much blood has been spilled over that tiny strip of desert while we ignore more pressing issues.

My next position is something of a surprise even to me .... I feel we should give our full moral support to Ukraine, but stop funding the war. We still provide valuable intelligence, but without committing troops and going all in, we need to stop throwing money down that bottomless hole. WE MAY NOT GAIN UKRAINE AS AN ALLY, BUT WE AREN'T TURNING OUR BACKS ON ONE EITHER. I came to this conclusion given the Republican budget battle and them withholding emergency funds for these two wars.

With all the trouble the United States is currently going through, we do not need to get into any more financial trouble than we are already in. The leaders of Europe have been able to sleep peacefully for more than seven decades because we carried a large portion of the bill. It's time they assume the greater portion of their own security. Again, we aren't backing out of NATO by reducing our backing of Ukraine. We are simply taking stock of the new millennium and attempting to get on the right side of history. At least that would be my position if I were "in charge".
