ROMANCING THE STONE
(c) 1984 __ rated- PG
[ ROMANTIC COMEDY ]
-- ACTION
some skin ; some drug use
starring: Kathleen Turner, Michael Douglas
GOOD++ : as rated by DR-KNOW
set: New York / Columbia
Kathleen Turner plays Joan Wilder, a secluded romance novelist who can't find romance herself. As the movie opens
Joan is vividly imagining the end of her latest novel as she writes it. After delivering the manuscript Joan returns
to an overturned apartment.
Days earlier Joan's brother-in-law sent a treasure map to the New York apartment before being brutally murdered.
Now she must deliver the map to the kidnappers in Columbia (South America) to save her sister. This movie combines
ACTION, ROMANCE, & COMEDY in a way that very few have managed. Be prepared for a wild ride. The almost non-stop
action features a bus crash high in the Andes mountains. An abbreviated car chase that ends over a waterfall and
some hungry alligators that prove troublesome.
