Opening scene... Pulitzer prize-winning author and playwright Zachary Hutton (John Ritter) lays naked in bed with a woman. He is about to be shot by his jealous girlfriend for "sleeping" with her hair dresser. As the half naked woman runs towards the door in walks Zach's wife.

She is a local TV anchorwoman and home early from a cancelled trip. The only real anger she displays gets directed at Zach's classic typewriter. Telling him to move out as she throws the typewriter in the pool.

The opening scene captures the comedic tone while foreshadowing the kind of trouble that follows the philandering Zach around. "Skin Deep" features one of the Ritter's best performances. Including some laugh-out-loud PHYSICAL COMEDY.
