My wife and I recently began watching the Californication TV series starring David Duchovny (X-Files fame) which prompted this selection - after 15 years this movie came off the shelf still in the wrapper - I would have watched it sooner had I known Angelina Jolie was the leading lady.

This is not your typical gangster flick - just enough for the drama, action, and comedy set ups. This movie is well acted with a good plot.

Ultimately a story of self redemption, Duchovny goes from a would-be gangster back to the doctor he once was thanks to the beautiful, but romantically involved Jolie.

This kind of surprising good movie has been my primary motivation in writing these reviews
