This movie starts slow but finishes strong. It seems love comes in all flavors when a young woman (Gyllenhaal) with mental problems and the tendency for self mutilation finds a match with a sadist boss (Spader). Fortunately this movie does not get bogged down with lengthy S&M scenes. Just enough to give it flavor and the connection that draws the two together.
