The series begins with a 16 year old cheerleader jumping off a 40ft heigh catwalk as her friend takes
video below ... Flat on the ground Claire gets up dusts herself off and pushes some bones back in place.
"That is attempt number five", she says.
The premise behind this series comes from a genetic mutation activated by a total solar eclipse that
manifest super-human "abilities". Claire, noted above, has a self-healing "ability". Matt can read minds.
Nathan Petrelli can fly, and so on, and so on. In fact the range of different abilities increase as the
series progresses.
Part of the appeal of this series comes from comic book artistry and storyline incorporation. One of the
"heroes" that can paint the future, Iassac, is a comic book illustrator who's comics become an integral
part of the plot.
Additionally the bonding of the characters and the development of their abilities create the dramatic
tension that leads to binge watching. Nevertheless the comic book backdrop lessens the effect.
Though slated to continue for a fifth season the series was cancelled and though each season brought
closure the series did not come to a sense of completeness like the "4400", for example.
